Al n you made a good point , peoples really don`t know how to save moneys , I could never be able to buy all the meats from the reduced to clear , for the simple reason that I don`t have a shed with 2 massive freezer , that one day someone will go in and steal all the meats ;)....

I would have just took would i need and left space to other peoples , but does are greedy , the may saved 5 pounds , but will through away 10 pounds.....

anyway I`ve decided to go back to tesco at the same time and film it if that happen again

I work in a supermarket and I can say its not limited to one supermarket chain or even one store. it happens across the board. we as staff get crowded and practically mugged when we are reducing items (which was no good when I had anxiety), its always the same people who get a bit aggressive, regardless of country of origin. And I've noticed since the recession hit that more and more people are clicking on to the fact that things get reduced at the end of the night.

Personally though I wouldn't have the face to stand around for hours filling my basket with items that will be out of date in a few hours time.

Id say it was bad management though to reduce things down from say 10% to 95% in the final 10 or 15 minutes of trade. That is bound to cause problems with people diving in.

I sometimes wonder if we are the only people to say "Thank you" to the reducer.

It amazes me that whole groups of people have hours to spare hanging around on the off chance of some reductions, but if passing at the right time (which can change) it's worth calling in or even perhaps organising the time of your shop during the 'golden hour' as it's termed, but the danger is all the standard stuff you want may have gone from the shelves by that time. It's mainly people who live nearby who benefit, although I've seen mini-buses full of bargain hunters turn up.

Stores seem to offering much lower individual reduction these days and I suspect they think that in a recession shoppers will be grateful for any sort of saving, then panic at the end of the day when they realise they'll have to skip it. I regularly see 10 - 20p reductions of that heaps of food that needs using that day, or even stuff on multi-save where it would be cheaper to buy a couple of fresh items.

re the person in the video that bought about 10 bags of limp salad, probably 10p a bag lets say, so maybe he spent a quid on limp salad.

If its rocket, he could grow his own for next to nowt, and it will be fresh.

Regardless of what it is, a quid buys you more salad than he got, if you go to our local greengrocer, or the farm, and its fresh, and you don't have to fight for it.

Maybe there is an element of sport to it?
