How I get a cheap holidays - buy ink cartridges from Tesco when there's bonus points, multi-saves, voucher codes and cashback http://www.tesco.com/direct/hp-364-photosmart-printer-ink-cartridge-with-vivera-ink-blister-black/204-2300.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=204-2300&sc_cmp=pcp_GSF_Office Machines & Equipment_204-2300&icid=spiffy_hp 364_204-2300_hp 364

75o points when you buy 2 + 20% off when you buy 3 + 6% Topcashback which can be exchanged for clubcard points with a 6% bonus and I had a £10 off £50 spend code emailed to me yesterday. I only use these inks, but the offer is probably on all or most HP inks sold by Tesco at Tesco Direct.

        So 10 for 57.40 less £10 code = 47.40 + £3 delivery = £50.40 spend

57 points + 3750 bonus points + 2549 clubcard points from TCB cashback (with 5% bonus) + 10,000 recycling points + 28 points for buying using Tesco Bank Credit Card = 5069 points in all.

EDIT: Just got my order in time before they sold out of it, but there's a load more hp ink carts in the offer http://www.tesco.com/direct/special...rtridges-excludes-sellers/promo21000063.promo

At the very worst I've got free ink, but will probably use those points for yet another canal boating holiday paid for with points exchanged at 3x their face value. I booked one yesterday for a cruise next year to Edinburg via The Falkirk Wheel (to be followed by Ben Nevis and White Tail Sea Eagle spotting on Mull). Now I have enough points for another boating holiday!

I'm struggling to buy single trip European rescue cover - cheapest so far for a 12 day trip is £35. Any tips on how to pick up any bargains here?

Seen this company mentioned previously for cheap European short term cover, £24.75 for 12 days http://www.vehicle-rescue.com/breakdown-cover.php but apart from that I've never heard of them, so worth Googling to check them out.

Also search for vehicle rescue on cashback sites such as Topcashback http://www.topcashback.co.uk/search/merchants/?s=European+Breakdown to see what you can get off the likes of RAC, AA, etc. What I like about Topcashback is that you can elect to have your cashback paid in Clubcard Points (max £50 in 12 months) with a 5% bonus, so up to £52.50 in vouchers per 12 months which can be exchanged for up to 4x their value for 'Deals' or 'Doubled Up' for using instore/online and I've used all my cashback from them 'trebled up' to help pay for that canal boat holiday.

Whilst I do not make a point of going to a supermarket to hunt for bargains, if I see one and it's what I want I will find a store home for it in the cupboard under the stairs. As my bread flour is there and is used frequently, I can keep an eye on my stashed bargains so that I don't go and buy it at the regular price when I run out.
          1) the All in one dishwasher tabs in my local Budgens this week - a one off / not normally stocked .£6 for 52 tabs - Amazon £20.76!! on the back is a competition which closes 30/9/2013 so maybe they want to get a few more entries? No expiry/BBE date on DW tabs...
          2) In Swanage a couple of weeks ago - couldn't resist this £2 for 500 grams of Crunchy Nuts - £3.14 in Asda's at the moment,

That's 11.5p each. Packs of 13 were £1 at Poundland a couple of months ago so only 7.7p per tab. They still had them yesterday in our local Poundland.

But even better than that the bigger packs like you paid £6 for at Budgens were only £3 at the Co-op several moths ago

          finish.png

500g packs were on special in Morrisons last month for £1.34 (I bought some for my Father-in-Law to stock up and that and helped get my shop up so I could use one of the £3 off £20 spend vouchers that came in the post at the back of their offers leaflet)

@Jenny namaste - Give Sainsbury's Basics dishwasher tablets a shot, they are less than £3 a box, and that is for 48 or 52 from memory. They work just as well as any of the more expensive ones.

And there's me thinking I'd done alright... It's a bit like your holiday package price - you can always find someone who got it for 50% less than you.
Why are things reduced like this? Surely the vendors are losing money?

Sometimes there's also downloadable/printable money off vouchers that can be used at the stores with stuff on rock bottom offers, getting the price down even further. Existing on a small early retirement pension, and getting the lowest prices and every single saving, reduction, cashback, etc. is a way of life for us.

Our dishwasher is failing. We only have a slimline model because we have a
small kitchen, but a replacement is around £200 + shipping.

Luckily, I have a few Tesco Clubcard Points

            tesco points16.10.png

Luckily again , Tesco are 'Doubling Up' points on the likes of dishwashers, so this model http://www.tesco.com/direct/hotpoin...her/796-4249.prd?pageLevel=sku&skuId=209-1623 with free delivery has only cost me £115.15 in points (after £2.35 points for purchase deducted) so only just about what I've eared in Tesco Points over the last 3 months.

And I've still got loads left.

When Mrs Scrungee & I went to get a mortgage many, many years ago and were told life insurance would cost more if we were smokers, so we both gave it up immediately, thus getting a double saving (we like that sort of thing).

I've subsequently realised just what a good price £235 at Tesco Direct was (before doubling up clubcard vouchers to get down to £117.50)

                Homebase £359 http://m.homebase.co.uk/mt/www.home...3690272|rnd:1303198410974603497|dvc:c|adp:1o8

                Argos £279 http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produ...82179142|rnd:311313427883058892|dvc:c|adp:1o5

I may have been imbibing on the homebrew at the time, but when I spot a good moneysaving opportunity I have to just go for it because very often they're not there in the morning.

P.S. I had Hotpoint phone me up and ask me if I wanted to extend to warranty by one year for as much as I'd paid for the flippin thing - no thanks, but maybe OK for the likes of those buying from Homebase for three times what I paid.
