It's shape was more square. similar to this but with a wider bonnet and, in some way. looked posh and expensive.

That's much more like it! Although it appears to be a proper RR grill with the 'Spirit of Ecstacy' on it.

The car had the split screen and a more upright and square screen and much squarer roof and rear.

That car JazzSi posted reminds me of the old Austin Princess:

John, that's very much more like it :blue thumb:. Add the RR grill and make the car a little more upright/higher and it would be almost there :)

Yes a lovely old limo, the next Princess range in the 1960s actually had fitted a Rolls Royce engine as standard (this is the 1968 Vanden Plas Princess 4 litre R):

Sorry No :) - The photo is from Wikipedia, I'm guessing it's another Austin, maybe a Sheerline Woody :dunno:

John , someone's making off with his hub caps in the photo !
Love the position of the wing mirrors in them days ! So far away ,so a two man job to adjust , and absolutely useless for rear viewing.

Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions. :blue thumb:

It seems as though it would have to have been a hand built car
