        Microbes in decomposing wood can emit light, and I can remember being at a festival held amongst woodlands where everybody was finding glowing, decaying wood and making necklaces from it or holding handfuls of the stuff like it was glowing coals.

        Is it that stuff?

        CD's mounted on a bamboo stick, and I suspect that small electro-voltaic panels and LED's are involved somewhere along the line? Maybe with a ni-cad battery to hold the charge?
