People know I have a "few" different varieties of shrubs, hardy perennials, etc in the garden but to be honest it's usually the simplest annual or flower that catches my eye and makes me stop to look. The rare, specialist, or collectors plants just don't rate the same satisfaction that a Cambrian Poppy or Japanese Anemone sometimes can!!:snork:

Both lovely Armandii but the Poppy is so remarkable in a simple way!

Now, that is an interesting question, GA :heehee:

The one I have put photo's up of wasn't actually 'planted' I had planted what remained of a choisya ternata in that area - which I'd brought with me from my old house when I moved here in June 2010 . That was a bit of a "miracle" in it's own right because the main plant had "died" and this was a sprig of a thing which just erupted prior to moving. By 2011, the passionflower erupted from the choisya site (which I did have growing in my old garden). By 2012, it was flourishing and flowering but not fruiting. This year, it fruited.

By that same token, *last* year on GC, the topic of passionflower was being discussed (can't be asked to locate the thread) and I said I'd popped a little sprout of one beside a dead plum tree. Replies indicated it was unlikely to be successful. However, *this* year (less than 12 months on!) it has positively overtaken all the dead branches of the plum, flowered in abundance and even *that* one has produced a fruit (or three). Didn't photograph it because, by comparison, it isn't quite as dramatic - yet, it has flowered and fruited in less than 12 months, whereas the one you see has taken two years and is doing it in abundance!

Maybe that simply means the weather was *right/ripe* for it ;)
