That's most kind of you, thanks I grow a few Dahlias for cut flowers. Year on year I tend to replace ones that aren't as good as they look in the catalogue, and that one caught my eye.

 

A few more today;

Tricyrtis "Hototogisu" has subtle differences to "Taiwan Adbane" (size of flower and foliage, more upright growing)......................


Here is Tricyrtis "Taipei Silk" (a phenomenal doer!), "White Towers" and "Dark Beauty" all together....................


Another showing "White Towers" growth habit better......................


Commelina tuberosa.....................


Pasiflora "Amethyst" continues to bloom........................


Impatiens balfourii will bloom like crazy right up to the first frost...................


Impatiens niamniamensis is not as good as last year.....................


And Hibiscus Trionum......................

 

Love Michaelmas Daisies Woo - they take me back to my childhood days when my Father grew them.

 

Great "doer" of the year is a tough one.
Candidate number one is Eccromocarpus scaber...................


The second candidate is Sollya heterophylla.....................




But the award here probably goes to this Lobelia tupa. Three of the five flower spikes are visible here (with Galtonia candicans), with most of them standing at over two metres...................

And saving the best till last again, the second bloom on my small Desfontiania spinosa...............

 

I agree longk that really is lovely, the leaves look very much like holly leaves.

 

They looked amazing at the GC Day-out to East Ruston Old Vicarage - so tall and healthy that we mis-identified them as "Unknown" and had to ask the proprietor for an ID

 

This big boy is a selfset.....Amaranthus.......(Love-lies -bleeding).
I thought I would just let it grow and see what happens,I think all it's energy has been put in the size of the plant and at the expence of flowers............65 inches high........and growing.

 

That's amazing Roders!! Looks as though there are flowers to come still. Hope that October is kind to your Amaranthus,

That's the joy of them! Out of bloom it's just a Holly, but then it blooms and gets a WOW factor. Downsides are that they are pretty hard to come by (and expensive) and slow growing.

 

They would look good in your red hot border!

It's a cracking dwarf Fuchsia!
