Good day all, could somebody possibly identify the weed that is creeping into and spreading across my lawn and advise me how erradicate it. It is lush, flat to the ground, small leaves and very compact. It can be easily scraped off but keeps coming back.

    Thank you

Think you're right Kris, the scrape off bit is a giveaway.

Liverwort it is Loofah, thank you very much. Is it hard to get rid of and will Verdone extra shift it?

Well, it's not a traditional vascular plant, it's more like a lichen. No weedkillers will touch it.
It thrives on poor, shady areas, usually on compacted soil so the best way of tackling it is to change it's environment and growing conditions. Dig over the soil and bring in some plants that will also like those conditions to out-compete it (which probably won't be grass!)

Liverworts like damp and shade conditions. You can improve drainage by aeration and maybe trim back any shading plants? Also a weed and feed will help, choose one with added moss killer (ferrous or iron sulphate) which will have some effect on lichens. The feed will boost the grass to help it out-compete the lichen. However the lichens will return unless you address the underlying damp/shade problems :blue thumb:
