Hi if I can tread on toes here,

Biennials, start growth in year 1, generally over winter and then flower in year 2. Most self seed easily, and give you blooms in successive years after year 2, but not necessarily exactly where mother plant was or where you want them.

Think I got that correct, sorry to interrupt Armandi :cat-kittyandsmiley:

:lunapic 130165696578242 5: You're more than welcome, Gdnam!!! And you're correct, most will self seed and pop up, like most plants, in places not necessarily where the Mother Plant is or where you want them. But, personally, I just dig a young plant and place it where I want to to be. be it a Teasel or anything else. Also, if Phillip has the plants I can send him they will "bloom" next year as they will be in the second year of their biennial life. I also find that a second plant will usually start from the base of the old plant:snork:

      I never knew that, :thud:

but it's good to know. Any chance my Foxgloves will do the same (given a slice of luck)?

I had foxgloves in containers this year. They died off naturally and now I've cut them down to the ground - I don't think they'll come back next year although they did set a lot of seed; being in containers means there isn't much surface area for the seeds to go to!

We have a couple of Snowberry shrubs in our garden, planted by the previous tenants, its not a showy shrub and not on my top 10 list of favourite plants but its staying put as it been far and away the best bee attractor for us over the last couple of years. The flowers are tiny and insignificant but the bees love them, they've been smothered all summer :)
