A load of migrants have drowned in the med after the boat they were in caught fire and sank. I'm sure we've all heard the news.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-24392732

But, here's something that puzzles me. They are saying on the news how many were on the boat, their countries of origin, and where they sailed from. If these were would be illegal immigrants, I can't imagine there would be that much paperwork, so how do we know so much so quickly about where they were from? In order to know that much detail so quickly, somebody must have known of the plans either before or very shortly after they set off. If it was known at that point, why were they not stopped? Or were they?

      I thought that odd too.

Terrible tragedy, can't imagine what they must have gone through.

But to say they were from so many specific countries so quickly? Mafia work perhaps?

        Maybe they were being tracked?

Brings to question, if they were, then why was not help quicker in arriving?

So many of the Med countries are being inundated with migrants, they can barely look after their own needy.
In the early noughties the coast guards were turning back refugees from lots of countries before they got into "their" waters. Probably still going on now.

The difference being that those ships are all registered with the proper authorities and their movements logged. Here we're talking about a boat full of people that weren't doing things by the book.

I'd blow them out the water, the message would soon filter back that it's not worth the hassle, but I guess that's not allowed.

But then neither is entering a country illegally, but we let that happen.

It will still be tracked by someone/ somewhere, same as airplanes, ballons do not have radar but can be tracked, i know because one day in a ballon we flew to close to some one house (famous) and next thing there was some jets flying around us

It's all human life and the world is just not big enough and it seems that the smallest countries are the ones being inundated. There is so much room on the African continent if only we could help them to stay there. Likewise with India and Asia. The despots are winning that is the trouble.
