Well that's certainly cut down on the reading of 'new posts' workload.

What about this forum? (which indicates that 'private' stuff is not necessarily 'private')

I don't know if administrators can see other people's inboxes on here. Its not something I've ever looked into, as private messages are private. If we're splitting hairs though, NOTHING is truly private on the internet, as at some point, data has to be stored somewhere, even if only temporarily, in order for it to work, and it has to be transmitted too, so anything you do on any internet site is technically visible to somebody.

This is true of Gardener's Corner, your personal email, Facebook, and even your internet banking website which will no doubt boast about its strong security and strict privacy.

There might well be a plug-in that allows permission to see PM's, however it does not necessarily mean that it will have been added onto the forum software; and even if it was added on, that does not necessarily mean that it will be used.

I'd like to think that we all know the admin on this site well enough to be able to trust them?

When I said I thought that admin had access to pm's anyway, I meant for the purposes of sorting out someones account if there was a problem with them being able to use pm's. I wasn't for one minute suggesting that admin are snooping on anybody and I am putting this down for the record. I wasn't implying that there was a trust issue.

Hmm, no, but that is an interesting point, Jiffy.
Not even considered that aspect Kandy.
                          I'm back :snork:
That is precisely what I was getting at :pathd:
I'll pm you my response to that Our Mandy ;)
Oh I totally agree on that front :dbgrtmb:

Zigs pretty much hit the nail on the head in where I'm coming from with my question.
When I came in yesterday, I knew I had some messages to respond to then more needed a reply and then by the time I'd read the latest posts, responded to a few, read and written PM's ... I'd forgotten the questions I had come here intending to ask  So that made me wonder if private messaging impacts on the forum content (because it certainly did with mine :heehee: )?

Ah, forum dementia - - I too am a sufferer @"M", welcome to my club :)

If I had a tenner for every time I went onto a forum to ask a question, and then promptly forgot what that question was, I would be quite well off. :)
