There is a word which, until about a few months ago, I'd never heard in my life, but since, I hear it all the time on TV ads and programs.

Based on the context, I've established that it is some form of food, possibly a sauce or flavouring, but beyond that I have no idea.

The word sounds like 'shoe', and while I'm sure a shoe would add flavour, I'm not convinced that's what they're on about. It is like 'shoe' but with the starting phonetic being the sound at the the start of at that french song je-tem.

So please, in the context of food, what is 'Shoe'?

        Not Julienne.

Somewhere between 'sh' and 'J', like between Jew and shoe, but not chew. Replace the 'sh' from shoe with the 'je' from je-taime, and that's what I'm trying to say but have no idea how to write it, hence I can't google it.

Mirepoix is a combination of chopped carrots, celery and onions used to add flavor and aroma to stocks, sauces, soups and other foods. I had to Google it though to find out!

Not only would it not look right, but they wouldn't be able to charge as much either.

Aint it about time cooking got away from all this french crap and caught up with real life.
