Went out shopping in my new car this morning, all the way home it was beeping loudly at me flashing the seat belt sign!!!!! I had my seat belt on so I was beginning to think it was a fault , when I got home I realised why it was doing it................... I had put my shopping on the passenger seat and the car was telling my shopping to fasten it's seat belt!!!!!!

I just hate these modern things that keep telling you what to do.
There will come a day when nobody will do anything, unless someone else, or some bloody machine tells them to.

I think people react against them pete, remember the talking dashboard in the old Austin Maestro/Montego that told you in a synthesised voice to fasten your seatbelts. It was so unpopular that no mainstream car maker has ever tried it again.

Hired a car for a few days as I needed a vehicle to get to my daughters wedding , a good 3 hrs drive and didn`t want to put my old gal under the pressure.

Gets in car to drive away, no handbrake. spent a few moments working out it comes off automatically, arrives at traffic lights, knock into neutral release clutch, the engine stops to re-start depress clutch, next morning, still dark turn key for initial start, lights come on automatically, drive a few miles and it starts to rain, wipers come on automatically, found the 6 gears a little confusing when changing down but overall a good drive.

Soon all that will be needed to drive a car is the knowledge of how to open the door.

But that would take away all the fun of driving.

No worries there @"M" - successive governments have managed to get shot of it already, simply by not maintaining the roads properly!

Ooh I dunno about that. It depends what you call fun. I had a modern car once for a few weeks. I took it back because the computer, which ran everything (literally everything, except the handbrake), went crazy and set out to kill me and anyone else. It switched the brakes of completely on more than one occasion, and the day I won my legal argument with the garage and got them to take it back, the digital read out warned me of an ice risk. It was the hottest day for years at over 33'C, it was even in the news for how hot it was.

That same car embrassed me by literally getting stuck in a car park. I had to reverse out of the parking bay. Simple enough I hear you say? Well yes, IF the car decides on that day that IT doesn't mind you putting it into reverse. Or it could simply refuse, and make you wait til the parking bay in front of you has been vacated.
