    Thanks for the replies.

Kristen - do you mean cut it and inject it now? I guess it will still take some of it back to the root as it withdraws for winter.

I don't really have neighbours as such not within about 500 metres anyway. I have looked at the surrounding farmland and there is a huuuggggggeeee stand of it in some scrubland but it's a significant distance way from my land. There is a a clump adjacent to my land that looks like it has come from my land in the first place and there is no reason why I can't treat this too as I should easily get permission from the landowner.

There is only a small clump near the house, probably about 10m away and I think this is the place to start. We only moved into the house in August and the place was so overgrown it took a while to notice where all the clumps were.

EDIT- just checked the Roundup website and they recommend using tree stump and root killer painted on leaves. Might be too late for that this year?

Yes, that was what I was thinking. Slow it down a bit next spring, making next year's onslaught more successful - hopefully :)

I think too late, anything on the leaves will need to be done when it is actively growing.

    I sit corrected.

Dunny - nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

So all we need to do is avoid any wars for the next couple of years and the money we save will pay for it

        Thanks all.

An onslaught on the stuff closest to the house might be on the cards this weekend!
