I remember walking though woodlands for years after that storm and still seeing the signs of devastation.

I was listening to the weather men last night and they were quite specific about what was going to happen.

"There will be, possible, hurricane strength winds."
"Cornwall has been put on alert."
"The strong winds will run along the south coast - or may turn north through the midlands up to Scotland - or turn south through France."

            So now you know!!!! :heehee:

That seems to be an absolutely definitive forecast for us to prepare for. :blue thumb:

Never mind if you miss out on this storm because there's going to be another one along next Saturday and looks like it'll be more northerly than this weekend's storm, but if they don't know what's going to happen in 36hrs time, how on earth can they predict what's going to happen next weekend?

Just listened to another forecaster on the radio. She said that they were still not sure exactly where the storm will hit or how severe it will be but they "...should know within a day or two"!!!!!! :hate-shocked:

Even I should be able to work that out in that time scale. :heehee:

Latest news from the Met office , 24 forecasters have phoned in sick /stressed so they are asking Michael Fish if he can stand in for the next two days ! You just know that tomorrow night is just going to be a touch breezy , a good day for drying your washing.

Our wind has picked up. We should miss the worst of it, although we've got a yellow warning

This webcam at Dawlish is a good one to watch as it's a live stream unlike most webcams which only update every few minutes (and you can hear the wind, crashing waves and trains going through!). An advert plays at the beginning but then you've got uninterrupted live feed.

                      http://www.livestream.com/rcdawlish

I've seen it imbedded elsewhere in a forum post to give continuous live display but I don't think it can be done on this forum.
