It's rained over night and it's just started again. 12C at the moment with light winds.

After a fairly nice breezy morning, it has just become very wild here already in the Fens. Bit surprising as I thought it was a-comin' much later ...

I hope everyone in the effected areas, without actually worrying about it, at least takes it a little bit seriously. Its supposed to be the worst storm since the 1987 one which did quite a lot of damage. Its on the news today that a wind turbine in Devon has already gone over (not the one I linked to in another thread).

We're not forecast to get the battering up here in the north east, but on the way back from Sunderland last night I did notice the traffic information panels warning of possible severe gales on certain stretches of the road (in particular, around Peterlee, where the natural shape of the land makes a funnelled wind tunnel straight off the sea).

Remember to secure your recycling bins or they'll be off up the road.

Most of the trees round here are in full leaf so that's rather worrying. Just putting all flyable stuff in garden into the garage and getting the washing off the line and noticed a small elder at the very end of the garden snapped in half :ouch1: So glad I decided last year to get the pros in to fell three old very tall and sickly trees quite close to the house!

                Stay safe everyone.

Bad winds at the moment but there is a high tide as well, it's blowing right up the Khyber pass

Thinking back to the '87 in Essex.....the wind totally dropped before the hurricane started to build slowly and at it's height became a very low deep moan. I think it was two to three days before the wind dropped completely and the 'clear up' began.

The wind here today is expected to reach 35mph dropping to 25mph tomorrow, a mere breeze.

I'll be thinking of you all and keeping an eye on GC today to see how you're coping. Stay safe everyone!
