Think I've got a book somewhere about urban farming, must dig it out.

That is so clever and well thought out. Every town and city could do with some of those! I think I might send that on to my local council. Great pics too.
        Thanks Clue. :)

I have just watched river cottage - to the core episode 3.

There was a piece about urban farming on there. Hugh visited 2 ladies who started urban farming in their local village starting with 3 plots. They've now pretty much taken over the town.

Its a fantastic idea. I think all councils should take note! free food and a community spirit created in the process.

Would that be 'Incredible Edible, Todmorden' by any chance? The 'Incredible Edible' initiative has since spread to many other towns.

              Thats the one!

Just had a quick check, its 1hr 18mins from my house.

Might have to have a drive through one day in the summer for a look around.

I'd love to try and get something like that started in my area, however i feel the local kids would ruin it within days :-(

I had the same thought a few weeks ago, so I emailed the organisers to get their input. Apparently the town had an above average level of anti-social behaviour before the project, and many of the naughty people now actually contribute. I've always believed that most anti-social behaviour arises from a feeling of not fitting in (in Britain, we have a tendency to alienate kids - 'No ball games' and all that). Their project seems to corroborate that theory.
