Yes, but people's perception of what constitutes 'hard work' seems to be forever decreasing, whilst their perception of what constitutes 'necessities' is constantly increasing.

I remember the days when life was so hard that, etc., etc..........

I think I have told this salutary tale before but it's worth repeating. Some years ago I got a bit fed up with the constant knocking on the door by children dressed as Monsters demanding "Trick or treat":ideaIPB: so I decided to enter the "spirit" of the Night by using some costume bits from various Clients Parties held by a major Advertising Company I used to work for. [God, they were wild and wonderful parties!!!:lunapic 130165696578242 5:]

So I donned a really wild almost Afro wig, a creepy cloak, a quite realistic big eyed mask [reminded me of one of my old girl friends:heehee:]......and I waited for the next knock on the door. When it came, I kept the lights off and opened the door slooooooooooowly and then dropping my voice to guttural I crooned "Yeeeeesssssss, can I help you?"........which is where it all went wrong:oopss: Standing on my driveway in the dark was a little girl around 7 years old and a even littler boy around 4 years old. The little boy took one look at me and his face went :hate-shocked:and his mind said :runforhills:, his mouth dropped open and he burst into tears while the little girl was made of braver stuff and put her arm around him and just stood there. I had to whip the mask and wig off to show him I was a [almost] sane/normal person to calm him down. He really was frightened but I managed talk him around and got him to smile after a while. They left with almost all my supply of sweets and biscuits.....which eased my guilt a little:heehee: I also checked my driveway to check there was nothing left on it by the little boy!!!:eeew: But in retrospect I do think parents should "escort" their children on the Halloween sorties. I haven't worn the costume since.............quiet!!!!, Ziggy:nonofinger::hapydancsmil:

I'm hoping my experiences of 'wild and wonderful parties' in my 'wild' days were better than yours, but that would still mean your experiences were really good.

This Advertising Company, Scrungee, worked from an Old Hall on a small estate with modern buildings attached to it comprising of a Silver Service Restaurant, Bar, with free drinks and meals through the working week. To top it off there was also a large outdoor heated swimming pool. The Company had lots of brilliant, and I do mean brilliant, people who thought up ideas for adverts for Global Companies that would amaze you [but that's another story:snork:]. But I have to say in all honesty that during the nights of Clients Parties and Staff Parties there were more than ideas conceived in the heated outdoor swimming pool......if you get my drift.:hate-shocked::heehee:

Curried pumpkin soup again today (3rd day in a row) served with some half price cheese and garlic bread made with 9p reduced Chilli baguette and home grown garlic. Our taste buds are tingling for less than 10p each. (didn't look at the wrapper on that baguette until after tasting it and getting the chilli hit)
