Bread making machines

• Im sure your right Loli have you ever used cream thats gone off a bit? Im always tempted to use up the last of the carton as we never manage to finish it off in time, whenever I google it I just get people talking about that "soured cream" stuff you buy in the shops....im sure it'd be fine but im always afraid of poisoning the whole family tbh its a miracle I havn't already

 

I haven't tried using cream that's 'turned' @honeybunny ....if it's just gone over i might have tried cooking with it....doesn't get chance to go off with me though...i could drink the stuff....

oh cream is just divine isn't it, utterly scrumptious on just about anything...even porridge i prefer it not whisked meself...unless its on one of my sponge cakes that is yep we all love cream in this house but...nobody wants to be the greedy guts who went & finished it offso there's always a bit left which ends up in the bin after going a bit 'funny', i in particular wont touch it with a barge pole if there's even a hint that its not 100% ...i seem to be super sensitive when it comes to dairy for some reason, if its (milk or cream) even ever so slightly dodgy...then i'll be as sick as a dog, yet everyone else will be perfectly fine

 

At last! Having posted this thread over a year ago and having been given a bread maker that didn't function properly, now binned, I've finally bought a new one today! I've bought the Panasonic SD-2500. I will get to grips with it over the weekend but meanwhile I'd like to ask a few questions please.

1) The instructions don't say whether I can freeze the bread when made, has anyone tried it?
2) Do you think it would be wise to start off with a 'medium' setting for colour.
3) I can make jam with it, has anyone tried this please?

Any other tips would be welcome please.

 

1) Yes, you can freeze your bread Sheal. It never gets to that stage in our house. I would wrap it in foil to keep it from getting freeze dry.
2) Colour/crust crispness depends on your taste - you will soon find out what suits you best.
3) Personally, the Panasonic is a Breadmaker and I wouldn't dream of making jam in anything other than a preserving pan,
will be interested in hearing how you get on. There are so many lovely flour mixes around these days,

Isn't it amazing! Having paid out for the bread maker, it looks like my tumble drier has just given up the ghost, never rains but it pours!

 

Just thinking outside the box: is there a setting on your bread machine (dough, perhaps?) where you could "dry" your laundry? (In small batches, obviously!)

Alternatively: airer racks over your rads to dry your smalls

 

Even if there was "M" I'm not going to risk it, we know these things always go in threes!

Other half can't stand washing hanging all round the place but I have a floor standing airer in the 'spare' room.

Talking of which......my neighbours main rooms face my kitchen window and she hangs all her washing from her curtain rails, what an eyesore! I'll be glad when the new hedge we planted three years ago grows up and hides it all.

Well here it is, the first one out of the maker. I opted for the 'medium' buttons for trial and error and it doesn't look too bad. A little dented on top as I struggled to get the paddle out of the bottom. Not tasted it yet, I baked it this afternoon and we ate out this evening so I'm bloated at mo!
