But aren't you growing in a greenhouse? You should be getting toms later than those grown in poly tunnels/outdoors.

Maybe I'm reaping the benefits of sowing and planting late this year, which was a deliberate strategy after sowing too early last year.

Yes i 'd sown mine earlier than normal this year plus with the added heat from the summer it certainly speeded them up...

I was even tempted to sow a couple of seeds NOW:rolleyespink:...just to see if i could keep them going....i don't think i can face a shop tomato....the only problem i can see is the light situation...i could keep them warm easy enough...do you think it's possible @Scrungee or am i on a hiding to nothing?

I'll be sowing Red Robin seeds shortly for spring cropping tomatoes grown indoors under lights.

I'm going to start some seeds around Christmas time here, just need to decide on what, and waiting on some trades and swaps to come in.

I picked the last of my greenhouse tomatoes last weekend, they would have carried on growing but I had to clear/clean the greenhouse ready to overwinter my tender ornamentals. I have a bowl full of green tomatoes gradually ripening - it will be sad to eat the last one. It has been a very good year all round, time to have a rest from eating fresh tomatoes and make a start on the sauces and soups in the freezer :dbgrtmb:

It has been a good year for me also after a slow start. My tomatoes finished a month ago and I'm still trying to avoid shop bought. Yuck!

As that frost warning has been brought forward to tomorrow morning I picked the last few of mine today (and I've still got 7 mushroom boxes of tomatoes in various stages of ripeness in the kitchen)
