Awww "M", we had to say goodnight, sleep tight to her, she went downhill very quickly with liver failure and our wonderful vet who had treated her from a puppy through to her last moments said it would be best to let her go as she was in pain. I think he was just as upset as I was. :cry3:

I follow a dog trainer's Facebook page and he answers questions on behavioural issues each day. There has been lots of discussion on the Lexi case, as you can imagine and he posted this as a prime example of how a dog can flip. Please note, this particular clip was not posted by the originators, it has been dubbed over to explain all the signals and stress signs the dog is giving. Not easy to watch :frown: I hope the parents have seen this version and all the comments and that the child is still safe and well.

wow, I could just see in the clip the dog was not pleased. And the child was allowed to behave in a disrespectful way to the dog. Here it is again, the need for education to adults. What a sweet dog though. I've heard that most large dogs just get up and move away from children. Its probably the smaller breeds that don't have that power to do that and feel more stressed and respond.

OMG, that was so scary I couldn't watch till the end. Did it all turn out OK? If I know it doesn't end badly I could watch it.

I can't believe the film makers/parent whatever stood by letting that happen. It would stress me out to have a toddler bouncing all over me, plus the vacuous noises coming from the other humans, let alone a dog.

On this occasion the child was OK, Madahhlia but unless the parents have seen the edited version with the subtitles, I don't hold out much hope for the future. I'm beginning to think it's not dog licences we need ,it's a compulsory 1/2 day's training for all dog owners which should include reading a dog's body language.

"Beginning to think" sweetie, this is long standing issue for years, HUMANS need education when it comes to dogs. Or even pet ownership. As I said earlier, many humans should not even own a fish.

What a tolerant dog...bless his heart....i fear more for that child with the completely irresponsible parents..... if that dog had turned the damage would already have been done even though the parents were there....and who's fault would it have been?....

When my brother was a young lad he was mauled by a dog....because he was firing a 'cap gun' at it....luckily bro was ok after being stitched up...the owners were going to get the dog 'put down' and were obviously devastated at what had happened but my parents said no...at the end of the day it wasn't the dogs fault....that dog lived to a ripe old age and used to visit a couple of the old folks houses for a saucer of tea daily...it was scared so it fought back...wouldn't we....

@Yvonne Donnellon :goodpost:....things like this should be broadcast on the TV to make people aware...ofcourse there are exceptions to the rule but as i said in a previous post NEVER trust a dog 100% no matter how faithful ...things annoy them ...just like they do us:dbgrtmb:

Thanks for showing us the video Yvonne. :)

I sat wincing all the way through the video waiting for the dog to turn and he wasn't far off! It makes you wonder how children survive with parents like that, let alone the torment to the dog. It makes me so angry!

Thanks Lolimac. You are right Redstar, dog owners should educate themselves so they know what they are committing to but now more than ever I think the government should step in start and addressing this issue. Status dogs, abuse and illegal dog fighting is an epic problem in the UK. There are criminals now posing a dog rescues to source bait dogs from people who don't have the financial means or the inclination to look after their pets any longer. If a bait dog actually survives this, I'll guarantee that dog is too mentally unstable to be trusted in a family again. The dog who killed Lexi could well have gone through this, there was physical evidence on Mulan which could point to this.
I will never understand how anyone can mistreat Man's best friend
