Purple Sprouts

    Nar, dont mess with them ziggy, the secret lies in what they say, wait until frost.
    Must be tricky growing them in S. California.
    Then pick when young.

    I like sprouts but cant stand them after Jan, they get old and yellow.

      Ive grown some from a funky veg kit but not been to the allotment for a few week so i will have to get up there and update :)

              I completley agree sheal:) my green ones didnt have as much damage so maybe it might be worth growing purple ones to deter caterpiller damage on the greens :dunno:
              Its my 1st time growing so no idea really :)

                Perhaps the purple ones have a sweeter taste to the caterpillars, or they're fed up with the green ones. :heehee:

                  They look packed full of worthy, healthy stuff - fibre, vitamins, anthocyanins and all that. If you can keep them down, that is.

                  Wondered if they go greener when cooked, like purple beans. Although red cabbage doesn't.
