        That looks a bonny loaf of bread Sheal. You will love it. Doesn't it smell good ,
        looking forward to seeing a cut slice ( doing a bit of a Paul Hollywood on you ..:heehee:)

          Thanks Jenny, yes it does smell good and I hope it tastes as good too! Not so sure about the cut slice, I'll see if I can get to it with the camera before other half does! :heehee:

                Not much Jenny. :) There'll be another one underway tomorrow with some adjustments. The bread was a bit holey so I'm wondering if that's due to the fact I used Flora margarine instead of butter, being a lighter consistency I don't think it's bound it together properly. Anyway, I'll pick up some butter then get the machine going again. I'm also going to try a smaller loaf and a 'dark' setting for the crust. Trial and error I think! :biggrin:

                  well done Sheal, your bread turned out a treat & sure looks yummy too :thumbsup:

                  you can substitute oil for butter in most recipes Sheal, i very rarely use butter in my breads anymore as oil is handier for measuring out ;) i usually use olive oil or occasionally macadamia nut oil :)

                    We use oil rather than butter ... and molasses instead of sugar (probably not a good idea for a white loaf though!) as we think it keeps the loaf more moist.

                      My Panny is quite happy to make a 300 gram loaf with 2/3rd teaspoon of yeast and 290ml of water Pam but I prefer butter for smell and taste.

                        i almost always use honey in my brown breads, its healthier & so tasty ;) i occasionally use golden syrup if its a sweeter bread im after (not so healthy but the yummy-ness makes up for that :snork:)

                          Thanks for the ideas all. :dbgrtmb: I might try oil but my ageing stomach is getting fussy and doesn't like oily/greasy foods much.

                          First loaf has gone and I've baked another one today, yet to try it. :)
