Leave it out a bit, although it would be good to dry the soil out if possible. I have them survive outdoors whilst the one next to it will perish. As they lift so easily I just lift them (I have plenty of cool space to over winter them) to save myself the hassle of losing them.

    I remembered all by myself!!

Of the proper hardy Salvia that I have only S.glutinosa seems to set seed. Never seen seed on my S.microphylla or "Black and Blue". There are many more, but these are the ones that I have experience of.
I have seed for S.patens (Oxford Blue) which will need a cold frame to get through next winter, S.glutinosa and S.sclarea (both of which are hardy) that I can send you.
Talk nicely to us and I'm sure you'll get some cuttings come the spring:). I for one will have S.microphylla (cuttings) and S.patens (seedlings). I may have a spare S.apiana (seedling or cutting), Salvia "Wendys Wish" (cutting) and a few other species possibly too.
Seed will be best sown in the spring in the cold frame.

One word of warning - Salvia can get addictive! I have sixteen species/cultivars at the moment in various stages of growth, plus several different species seed, plus I'm hanging on to see what seed Nibor has for sale after his trip to Mexico.:dancy:

Is it worth lifting and potting for winter, rather than growing from seed next year? Will I get a significantly bigger plant perhaps? (or earlier flowering maybe?)

        I think I've seen them ( S P's) classed as a "short term " perennial Kristen

I promised myself a couple of weeks off this Christmas and as such have not been checking my emails. Whilst checking RobinsSalvias site I noticed that the seed list wasn't up yet, so I relented and checked my email - got an email from Robin with the seed list attached!

So if you are doing the same as me I'm giving you fair notice to check your email! My order is in now anyway:hapydancsmil:
