Not sure if this is related, but I've always eaten fresh shrimps, but a couple of years ago after eating some, I woke up in the middle of the night itching like crazy and feeling sick.
I was totally out of it, couldn't work out what was going on with me.Even passed out at one point.
The next day my upper body was all red and itchy, and I felt shaky and sick, also had a touch of the "two bob bits".

I've tried them again since and had the same problem, so now steer clear, but I sill would like to eat a plate full.

I was talking to my brother today about this. He has had Hives for a couple of months. Apparently it can be triggered by just about anything, nerves, plants, food etc. It is the Urticaria family. In my brothers case it's an allergy to something in his garden, he was blood tested. His doctor prescribed him pills which were no help but his pharmacist said to take Piriton which does, and not to take more than the stated dose. On Thursday he saw a Homeopath who has prescribed for him but he hasn't received the medicine yet.

My brother said he was told it would get worse before getting better and it will eventually burn itself out. It is now improving. :)
