Good luck with the move, Freddy & Co. :dbgrtmb:

By the look of the new garden, I'm guessing those owners will be sad to say goodbye to theirs too.

Still, 8 weeks ... enough time to grab some last minute cuttings from some of your favourite plants in your current garden? :psnp:

Good luck with your new house and garden Freddy. Moving house is not fun , I hope all goes well for you . You will soon have your new garden knocked into shape and you can always buy your veg from Tesco until you get the allotment.

I missed this thread Freddy, I hope it all goes well too. We moved out not wanting to loose our buyer and not finding what we wanted, went into rented for 4 months. Not ideal but it was what we had to do.

That's close enough to critical sowing times to be a potential problem. If they move in late April prior to completion at end April (beginning of May?) then that's not going to be an ideal situation if you need to start sowing stuff in April in rented accommodation then shift it several weeks later whilst giving it the necessary TLC during the upheaval of the move.

P.S. You can always take your laptop to Tescos for free internet access.

I'm sure we could always start sowing stuff for you @Freddy in preperation if you're pushed for time:dbgrtmb:

                    Hello chums:)

Thanks again for the well-wishes:blue thumb:

I called the council, and although their website indicates vacant allotments, it turns out there aren't any:frown: I'm fairly confident though that one will turn up in the non too distant future, but as it stands I've pretty much written off next year. I could apply for an allotment further afield to increase my chances, but I want to hold out for one that suits me best. There's always the greenhouse though, and even if I don't get in there until May, I'll still be able to sow n grow some toms:dbgrtmb:

I must say, I'll miss just popping down the garden to pick some fresh produce, being able to just turn on the tap to water, digging when I had an odd ten minutes or so. I guess in that respect I've been spoilt since I've been here, it's just time to move on....

                    Cheers...Freddy

                        Hiya folks:)

Great news, I have a plot!:hapydancsmil: It turns out that there were plots available after all. It's not large at 2 perches, but for starters, it suits me down to the ground. If someone can confirm, 2 perches is around 60 sq yards ? I haven't actually seen it as I couldn't gain access (it's a council run site with a secure steel fence around with locked gates), but I understand it was worked this year, so it shouldn't be too bad. There's water on tap and it looks like they probably have some arrangement whereby one pays so much per year to have access to heaps of manure. I'm well chuffed:dbgrtmb:

                        Cheers...Freddy

                          Congratulations :blue thumb:

Yes, 2 perch (means two square perch) and is approx 60 sq yds. Actually, just over, as it should be 544.5 sq ft (60 sq yds is 540 sq ft). Where did that "pedantic" whisper come from? :heehee:

That's not an enormous size but is a very good start. Maybe you'll be able to get another plot if you show you handle that one well.
