Shredded paper documents in a compost bin or not?

      WOW!! I never expected such a large respone to my original question, but thank you to everybody for all your very interesting and informative answers.
      I will be adding my shredded ink jet printer black and white docs to one of my 3 compost bins from now on.

      SO, you all get Christmas presents??!!

        Because that's all there is to do now, apart from reading seed catalogues or attempting to attempting to cultivate a load of cold wet slop.

            I should have added earlier in this thread that when I have a cold all my used tissues go in the compost bin. It's amazing how many you can go through and they are quick to rot down too.
