I thought @shiney would have a crack at this one.

Do you want me to explain the answers? (I didn't even use a pen, paper or calculator).

Not quite as good as it may look. Most of them are old questions. Some of them were actually questions that we were asked in school (the ones in metric, weren't). :old:

I only 'failed on the weight of air question' because I took a punt, but the rest seemed relatively simple especially as I'd recently been looking at the reasons for differences in sunrise (civil, nautical and astronomical - I love maths).

Air working on helium horizontal rather than vertically - simples

I got the 'birthdays' question right as I remembered it's supposed to happen in a school class size.

      Rest dead easy.

I only got 20%, but I don't care because I've met a fair few degree students. They might be know how to calculate the weight of an atom, but they can't work out how to divide grant/loan instalment by the number of days til the next one is due.

        I'm hopeless at Maths so 30% wasn't bad. :)

That reminds me. TV ads. "upto 70% off plus an extra 10% off". So upto 80% off then? Or 75%?

Q1 was dead simple - I drink half a pint and you drink a quarter of a pint (2:3 or two thirds) and that proportion would continue until the amounts became "negligible".
        I'd go for 73%g

I really should have concentrated more on the question I got wrong wait wasn't that long ago since I used ideal gas law to calculate the volume of co2 produced by my homebrew (stuff like that does actually have some practical applications!).

          Neither! 73%

Was that a "When did you stop beating your wife?" type question? :heehee:

I've met a lot of very brainy people that would have trouble tying their shoelaces!!!! :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

On the other hand! I'll never forget what an older stall holder told me whem I used to work in the markets. He was very poorly educated, couldn't read or write properly but was very well off - and enjoyed life. A group of us were discussing what would happen if the government collected in all the money in the country and then distributed it equally amongst everyone (it was a slow market day :heehee:).

His comment was "I don't care. Within six months I'll be rich again. You can find a mug anywhere!"

I got it right because it came up in a TV quiz programme a little while back. :heehee:

I enjoy doing IQ type questions and do well at them.

In my opinion: most of the time (but not all), if you score well in IQ tests it shows that you're good at doing IQ tests and not, necessarily, that you are brighter than other people.

Having said that, there are special IQ tests that are much more accurate and don't rely on educational standards. They're called Culture Fair tests.

Even the Culture Fair tests vary quite a lot in difficulty.
This is a more difficult one of them - you can google for others if you're masochistic :heehee:
