    If you don't try you'll never know!!:heehee:

Naaaah, silu, I reckon looking at the standard of images that we see from HsuH, Woo, Longk, Sheal, Scrungee, Strongy, Dave and Pete, etc that they just have the "eye" and love taking pics and getting them to such a high eye catching standard gives them that buzz inside!!:snork:

One of the things that happens when you're wandering around the garden with a camera in your hand is that you start to notice the small things like buds, lichen, the textures and shapes of things.

I was surprised to see that the Lilac is already budding up ready for next Spring!!

And the Lichen on stems, twigs and boughs always catches my eye and interests me
    [IMG]

The Echinops is still trying to produce flowers!!

    As is the Astrantia
    [IMG]

While the great looking Teasel will stand all through the Winter!!

The Allium seed heads are still hanging in there.

Along with the Sunflower seed heads left for the birds

Great photos Armandii, Longk and HsuH.
When taking photos at this time of the year I suppose it helps to think out of the box when looking for a subject.

I must admit, I don't try and set up any shots - and it notices. I just wander, quickly, round the garden and take some quick snaps. No bending or crouching down, no special lenses and no waiting for the light to be right. I don't have the time for that :heehee: (can't crouch or bend, anyway :old:).

These are a couple of shots of the seed pods of the peony Moscovitchii

I was just about to tidy up the bed where some cannas are when I saw this little face peeking up at me through the foliage:

I've never had one bloom so late before.

Other plants still in flower are roses:

Yes, I asked on the 'Identify' thread and Iris foetidissima was suggested on there. The seeds looked right for that when I googled it.

Actually, I think that's exactly how most of us take our shots, Shiney. Most people have a macro mode on their Bridge/CSC camera and use it when they spy something. Just wandering around the garden with a camera in your hand seems to make you more alert and aware.:snork:

                          I don't even go that far :).

I keep my camera set on 'Intelligent auto' so can't use macro when on that setting. I suppose I should get around to reading the handbook but haven't had time since I bought the camera in 2008. :heehee:
