      Here's an idea. I sort of got the idea when I was on one of P&O's larger ferries from Hull to Zeebrugge, a ship that is a mere rowing boat compared to some ships.

      It is often in the news that there is a shortage of places to build new houses on without tearing up the countryside. You could just built floating towns and anchor them just off shore. I'd live in one. It would be ace. Permanent sea view, fresh air etc, and no land use.

      In fact in Hartlepool mariner, there is a small ship that somebody has made into their home. It has a garden on deck and everything. Its brilliant.

            Its big and impressive , but could never be described as beautiful .

            They have already done that Dave , they were called prison hulks ! Found this incredible photo from 1856 , of prison hulks at Woolwich .
