Steam Mop for cleaning stone floor - opinions please

We have one of the Vax steam sticks. Very impressed with it, the floors are dry within 5 minutes as well. Best thing we have bought for the cleaning.

I bought a VAX S1 last December (2012) and as ALL floors in our house are tiled this is a MUST here. As rustyroots says, floors are dry in minutes, especially important in damp/rainy season ... which is nice if we could get some (16-18c days, 7-9c nights, no rain). There is also an attachment for steam-cleaning carpets. I paid £62.56 from Amazon (delivered free) which included microfibre and velcro attachments. I highly recommend it.

 

There was a discussion recently, dunno if it adds anything @JWK ? maybe it will add "confidence" to your purchase though

It does fall into the top 2 "Don't buy the wife for XMas" categories : "Nothing for the kitchen, and nothing that you saw on Late Night TV"

 

I only bought the cheap model John whereas others seem to have bought the more expensive models. Mine only came with two washable cloths and a gadget for cleaning carpets. I purchased separately two microfibre covers and one Velcro cover. In my opinion, the one that comes with it only cleans 'clean' floors, the microfibre ones dirty floors and the Velcro one (which looks like Sideshow Bob) cleans heavily soiled floors. Mine does not have attachments for windows and ovens.

 

I bought mine in 2000, it was no fancy looking item then, Argos 65 pounds I think, but it has loads of attachments right up to wall paper stripper, It was so useful for cleaning stone floors etc, in the cottage but what I really bought it for was the Rayburn, it was impossible to clean as it was always red hot...I steamed over the top as best I could, and the doors came up lovely.
I replaced my mop heads with bar towels, held on with elastic bands, as you don`t "scrub" with them it works okay.

 

If anybody's thinking of buying a Karcher steam cleaner, they're normally 25% cheaper if buying from http://www.amazon.de/

I am buying one this week John. I work for Stanley Black and Decker so I get good discount on their stuff . My friend at work has one and he swears by it . When I showed the webpage to Mrs H tonight , I made clear it was not a Christmas present ! I am sure she will be happy with the new ironing board cover I have bought for her - gift wrapped of course
