My understanding us that It's when he strikes the chains off Fenris who's imprisoned beneath Iggdrasil the world tree, and that starts off Big War mk2 between the Ice Giants and the gods. Ones like Odin, Freyr, Heimdall etc are meant to be killed but then afterwards the surviving gods recreate the world using two human survivors.

This makes me think there's only one big story that just gets endlessly reworked.

A few years ago, right when the media was on its propaganda campaign to make us hate muslims, I decided to read up on all the major religions and belief systems to see if I could find out what was 'true' and what was just media spin and selective reporting. It was really interesting, but one thing stood out like a sore thumb. Everyone seemed to have the same (or very similar) story, but with a slightly different spin on it and different names for the main characters. Another thing that stood out like a sore thumb was that they were not describing gods and deities, but different aspects of nature, both human nature and nature in the sense of everything around us. Then each just gave names to stuff and added a few embellishments and interpretations of their own to the 'base' story.

The Flood legend is pretty world wide too.

            http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/flood-myths.html

Most of them probably refer to meltwaters at the end of the current ice age, but I wonder if the North American ones refer to the Mega Tsunami that happened when half of one of the Canary Islands collapsed into the sea?

Maybe the just didn't understand back then about how tremendous forces of seismic/geological events push mountains up out of the sea.

Apparently when Lazagrotty blew up about 300 years ago, it tripled in size overnight.

Me too (since you mentioned it). The top 3 results look like they might make an interesting read.

Other thing is, most cultures have got Dragon Legends, wonder what that stems from? Dinatron Fossils?

No, that stems from actual dragons. When I was younger I woke up next to a few.

Bog Myrtle makes a great wine, tastes like I expected Retzina to taste before I actually tasted it and found it tastes nothing like I wanted it to taste like.

Only found it growing in Wales though
