Shortest Day Today !

Probably still not enough given the circumstances.

Happy Anniversary To Mr & Mrs Dave

Just seen a Druid celebrating the Solstice dressed in full animal skins with horns. Thought to myself, deer god.

 

I might drink slightly more beer than I really should tonight, to celebrate. I've even got some brandy, and a jug of scrumpy.

Remember what they say, beer on cider do make a good rider, but cider on beer do make ee feel queer.

 

If anybody starts feeling giddy between now until early January it's probably due to planet Earth having an elliptical orbit around the Sun, and around this time of year when the Earth gets closest to the Sun, the Earth starts moving faster in it's orbit (365.25 days orbit is an average, not a constant). So it'll be that combined with a bit of extra axis wobble.

 

Does this mean that if we get the timing exactly right and jump up in the air just as it speeds and wobbles, we could land somewhere else entirely, somewhere warm perhaps to spend winter?

 

No, because the Earth's rotation remains constant, it's the speed of it's orbit around the Sun that fluctuates.

 

Been my flipping longest!

Out shopping before 8am this morning (just to beat the crowds!) and it worked ... right up until ...









... I was "served" by the slowest checkout staff person still breathing!
