It's getting a bit wild out there.....

 

@Jenny namaste At 2.01 this afternoon when there's a 43mph onshore wind forecast, but the wind will peak at 52mph (which appears to be the highest wind speed forecast anywhere along the south coast) in the early hours of tomorrow morning when the next high tide occurs at 2:23am. There's warnings on BBC News to stay away from promenades, but I wonder how many will come out of seaside towns pubs & clubs and go to watch the waves.

 

I think we are just a bit far north of where the worst is predicted, though it is forecast to bucket down from noon today until early hours tomorrow. With the ground already soaked ...

It's starting to gust - got up in the last hour. Still dry and mild but thank you for your concern. I'm inland of the coast by about 7 miles so out of the tidal surge area. So glad we are not travelling long distance - or expecting folks from afar.
Just watched a pidgeon on the patio get blown on to his back - he sailed gracefully into the border...

cheeky moo! I heard it strike 7 this morning ( just ...) and sat in bed with a cuppa listening / viewing all the flood warnings on BBC1.

I watched a weather report earlier which said that the wind/rain will calm down for Christmas Day / Boxing Day but will be followed by another "vicious" storm on Friday.

Looks a bit rough at Lyme Regis and it's only 20 mins from low tide. Should be rather interesting out on the Cobb at 9:30 this evening when it's high tide and the winds will peak.
