Coming home from work, on a skinny windy country road, I was obstructed by a Landrover with his hazards on right on the brow of a hill on a blind bend. "What a stupid place to stop" I thought, slightly annoyed as I slowed down to work out how I could safely pass with severely restricted visibility of oncoming traffic. Then I spotted why and I mellowed out again. He was being a good lad. He'd put his vehicle in front of the fallen tree while he stood behind the fallen tree sawing it up to get it out of the road. Top work that man.

Getting quite rough here now, gale force winds and horizontal rain. The journey home from work today was negotiated without mishap, although the drive across the Orwell bridge was fairly lively. :rolleyespink:

One fence panel broken so far, could be more by morning as the peak winds here are forecast to be between midnight and around 4am.

Decided last night to move the chickens into the greenhouse for their winter sojourn, as their run was getting quite muddy after all the recent rain, with more forecast. Beginning to wonder if that was such a good idea. :chicken:

Really bad here too in Watford. Lost 2 garden fences and they kind of squashed my Rose climber:hate-shocked:. Luckily it was smaller in size, so no major damage done to my lovely plants.:eeew:.

The wind is really bad here still, one of my Feijoa trees is nearly out of the swamp, (cant call it solid ground anymore), on the allotment.
I thought the rain was going to pass through but looking at the radar, there's another batch of heavy stuff come back into the SW.
So no let up sometime soon I guess.

Looking at the pressure chart, I notice the depression has a central pressure 931mb, its to the NW of Ireland about now.
My barometer only goes down to 950mb, and its never been anywhere near that.

Been a bit rough around London this afternoon - did not enjoy having to walk around near Euston with the wind and rain lashing; a bit later, as I got back out to West London there were trees coming down and all sorts.

Somewhat oddly, when I let the dog out about half an hour ago, it was a bit blowy but there was no rain and sitting here at the moment I can't even hear any wind :dunno:

I noticed the eye of a depression - to the northwest of the Scottish Highlands on this morning weather forecast. It looked like a hurricane ...not at all nice...:sofa:

Calmed down earlier, but back with a vengance now, a penguin just blew past, so I guess its coming from the south.
