Looks like we're going to get the storm tomorrow, just seen weather forecast we're on a yellow warning in the north west.
No white Christmas just rain and wind

The news is not looking so great.

          http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25484998

Here's a thought. At lunch time today, the boss announced, "if anyone wants a cuppa I'll make you one, or you can all just go home". Everyone left except me, I stayed for a cuppa. Then on the way home, as I mentioned earlier, I met a fallen tree blocking the road. I wonder if things might have been different if I'd set off half an hour earlier like everyone else.

It was not staying for a coffee after a meal that killed the couple in the Beaminster tunnel collapse, they'd been offered one, but said they wanted to set off before the weather got any worse.

They didn't know they were under the debris for 10 days

No bad weather here in Stockport, blue sky's and a slight breeze.

Had a reception do at Effingham golf club last night. Drive there was bad enough, the drive back had fallen trees and falling trees! Floods all over and the wind was something awful. Rough night for the emergency services

Merry Christmas to all, hope everyone had a nice time.
We got off lightly with the storm though very sturdy 8ft fencepost at one end of trellising is leaning at a rather drunken angle so obviously enjoyed some Xmas tipple also.
And a door which had just been replaced was blown about a fair bit - surprised since it is an old solidwood door. Wondering how it might be recycled in the garden somehow ...
We are expecting high winds and torrential rain all this evening/overnight.

The Express are always predicting arctic conditions at this time of year

The Express always seems to manage to find at least one "weather expert" who is forecasting total destruction.
They do actually name these people, if you bother to read it, it must be kind of embarrassing for the "experts" to be quoted by The Express.
The writeup is usually iffy enough to fit most situations at the time of year.
Always makes me think of someone reading the tea leaves.

It's pretty nasty here! Currently the wind is at severe gale and building to storm force. Parts of the house are being rattled. I dread to think what damage is being done not only here but all round the island and the wind is expected to last until tomorrow evening. For me this is now scary!

My computer has gone into slow mo so may lose my server at some point.
