When will we EVER learn that you cannot dictate to - or master - the ELEMENTS !!

Give Churchill a call tomorrow then Pete, if they agree to it you'll be on to a winner with your carpentry skills :)

They wont insure my place though, even if its been here for nearly 100 years and never flooded.

They don't like non standard construction.

The point I was making was that indeed, no-one can master the elements, but there are things that can be done, but the political will (not to mention money) isn't there. I just wish they'd say it how it is, and not make hollow promises.

But if it 15ft off the ground you can tell Churchill to go get stuffed as far as flood damage is concerned.

Yep, and they'll tell you to get stuffed as far as insurance cover goes.

Just took this from Burrow Hill, it starts off looking back toward my village. It's a different flood from the last pictures.

Sorry about the low quality, taken with my old camera.

Good shots Zigs - of course if it freezes you could go skating! Years ago in Cowbit about 3 miles from here they used to flood the land from the River Welland for skating.

It has before, but then the water drained away under the ice, bit dodgy
