Fair trade advent calendars reduced to only 25p @ Tesco!

There's a 10p donation from the sale of each one to The Children's Society so I can feel like a Scrooge right-on, smug do-gooder. The use by date is in 2015 so buy 2, save one for next year and immediately scoff the first 17 chocolates from the other one.

OK, so how much does something cost at M&S with 50% off? Scroll down for the answer which is .......................

      Absolutely free!

M&S have done it again and made everything that was supposed to be reduced to half price reduced to zero. Same thing happened last year and thousands of savvy shoppers have been constantly checking their website and surprise, surprise it's happened again. Just been to collect my haul worth about £150 that Mrs Scrungee will get as a Xmas present. You can't call me Scrooge when I'm giving her loads of expensive stuff like that. I've hidden them behind the enormous pile of free bog rolls.

For example (everything was ordered individually to increase the chance of something getting through even if they spotted they were giving stuff away before they fixed the glitch, which they did fairly quickly - I've heard rumours that some sites have software that checks for a massive surge in orders for individual products)

If you see something priced at £0.00 on a commerce website, what do you do - ignore it or immediately click on 'Add to basket' and checkout ASAP?

Asda has an offer of Purina foil trays cat food, normally 58p each, currently 10 for £4 = 40p each.

I just bought 30 because my old boy (19) is getting a bit fussy with this food these days and goes off things.

Went to Aldi this afternoon as they've reduced nearly all their fruit and veg to half price and more and got at least £30's worth (but perhaps £45 - £50's worth) for £15. Bought loads of 30p cabbages for the hens that should last through Jan & Feb if kept in the shed. All Aldis are supposed to be doing this nationwide.

              Examples:

              Cucumbers 25p
              Punnet grapes 75p
              Bag Cox's apples 30p
              4 large red onions 35p
              Savoy cabbages 30p
              3 courgettes 75p
              Iceberg lettuce 25p
              Celery 35p
              1Kg Bananas 30p
              Etc.

And it was all lovely and fresh and good quality.

Then went to Waitrose and got a haul of tins of McVities Victoria biscuits @ £1.25, yards (84) of Jaffa Cakes @ 75p and yards (four x 125g) of Cadburys Fingers @ £1. Got a free newspaper with our choccy biccy haul. Also got some chocolate teddy bears @ 16p each to put away for Easter.

Pickings were rather thin at Morrisons and only got 2 pint bottles of milk for 9p each and some more cream again at 9p/carton so we're back on the trifle again.

@Kandy Yes it was a Waitrose with a café so we could all have had a free cup of tea/coffee (we all have our own individual cards), but wanted to get back home before the drunks got on the roads. The £5 min spend to get a free newspaper can include the cost of the newspaper, so only £3 spend gets a free Sunday Telegraph which is pretty good when it has a £5 no minimum spend @ Bodyshop voucher in it, or free £6 pack of primroses @ Homebase voucher.

My mother always made her own Christmas puds, it was then put into the pantry and the one from the previous year was brought up for that years Christmas.
I buy one every year and put it in the back of the cupboard for next year.

Don't think you can beat Lidl for basics and Vegs, but then they are 5 mins drive/walk from me. for posh stuff when in the money I head for Waitrose. But for decent meat use the local butcher.

Following on from our cheese and toilet roll stocking up, this month we've been getting free Warburtons thins (online voucher) and free milk at Waitrose (voucher in their free newspaper).

                      thins1.jpg thins2.jpg

We did rather well on the thins as one store had them on special offer and we got 30p off our shopping for every packet we 'bought' so £1.80 off our shopping when 'buying' 6 at a time. We've been eating them toasted filled with our cheap cheese for breakfast every day for weeks. The only trouble with the free milk was that it was semi-skimmed so no good for making Paneer, but we made up for that today (and there should be enough for some yoghurt).
