    Hello Again,
    I bought bulbs of crocus sativus as I got too excited with the prospect of lawn of flowers with a bonus of growing your own saffron in the garden.. Dont you just love the aroma... I bought the bulbs in September and since they flower in Autumn i thought may be they will stay dormant this year and I should sow them in Spring 2014... Little did I know that they started growing in the paper bag :huh:... the stems grew upto 2-4 inches in 15 days and one of them formed a flower bud... So,:ideaIPB: I decided to plant them in large pot (sown 6 inch deep), covered them in compost and left them in the shed... I potted the one with the flower bud in a separate container and put it outside in the garden...
    The one outside in garden was eaten by a crow within a couple of days :oopss: I knew squirrels like the bulbs but crows:gaah:! for gods sake! dug up whatever was left in the pot and found that the bulb was intact with some new shoots popping out, so its now safely tucked away in compost in the shed...

    :help:Now here is what I need help with... (sorry for a looooog background story).. All my crocus plants are out with beautiful pinnate leaves and look healthy (no flower buds yet)... Since there are literally no helpful blogs about crocus sativus, for what to do when..
    Can someone please tell me what will happen to my plants now?? they are a bit late for the season.. are they going to flower?
    will they survive spring and summer? I read somewhere that they hibernate in summer so should be watered only when the pot gets dry.. I thought they are going to hibernate as bulbs.. so all confused.. should I water them or not? should i put fertilizer?
    If needed can post some pics of the shoots...
    Any replies much appreciated...:help::help::help::help:

    Just had a look in my book, not much help there, just says plant in late summer 10-15 cm, sunny well drained soil.

    Did say that someone was burried alive with there adulterated crop in Germany :)
