Is it just me, or does January drive people insane?

Until about late October, you still have things growing and can still get outside plenty. Starts to tail off in November, December is just chaos preparing from christmas, then comes January. Not much to do outside, even if the weather permits, and nothing to keep you occupied inside, and permanent darkness. Ok, well not really that last bit, but dark when you set off to work and dark when you set off home again.

I've finally decided to acknowledge that I hate the month of January.

          Cor, tell me about it.

It's dark, it's wet, it's cold. Not much is growing, the Stoggies have stopped singing and won't start up again till Valentines Day.

Then i've got the added bonus of telling the job centre why i've not found a job, never mind that half of Somerset is underwater and the other half is suicidal

Make someone's day tomorrow, just give them a wave and a smile, even if you don't know them :)

I like to get out in the garden early January, a bit of digging/weeding etc., it gives you that down to earth feel, if you get my meaning. I haven't been near my garden for weeks and I'm getting stir crazy because of this weather! Strangely I don't have to much of a problem with January, it's February for me after the long drag of the winter months, it may be the shortest month but always seems the longest with the temptation of spring not far off.

              The sound of spring.......:)

My garden has a northern aspect so it get's hardly any direct sun in January so the main part of the garden is always gloomy and shaded at this time of year. February isn't much better but at least by then I know that March is nearly here accompanied by more direct sunshine on a sunny day which lights up the garden and never fails to lift my spirits. I can put up with January, just get me to March!!

Whatever the weather or time of year my dogs just thoroughly enjoy life. So, I try to follow their example. Today we went tramping around a hill and splashed in puddles. Great fun!

                          Mine too!

That was my plan too. I have an area where the Japanese Anenomes persist so I wanted to dig them up and keep exposing the remaining roots to hard frost, but my back has put paid to that.

There's very little that I can say to that. Good luck............

What are you all moaning for? At least in the UK you have the option of a cheap winter holiday! We used to clear off to Goa for three weeks (it wasn't expensive) revel in sun, sand, flowers and lovely food, then return beginning of Feb by which time it was time to start work again and the weather was bearable. No chance of that here:cry3:
You have to fly to Paris or UK even to get a long-haul flight...
If it wasn't for the cats, I'd stay in bed for the whole month:snooze:
