It's quite small only about an inch and a half by 2 inches long.

I see this as a prototype and I hope to be able to scale this up and carve a larger one for my garden. A larger one would have more detail as it was really difficult to add much detail with a knife and the legs as it is so small.

Thanks Kristen. I harvested them a couple of years ago from a growbag I had. Just chucked in the seeds and let them do their thing. :dunno:

Thanks everyone! I'm thinking of buying a few breeze blocks and carving them into the same shape so they can be placed in the garden.Although I haven't worked out what gauge of wire I would need to use to support the legs.

                      Thank you :)

I'm working on opening a shop up on Etsy later this year. My friend who asked me for 16 robins for her wedding reception tables has asked me to print out some cards that she will have out too. So I have a deadline for September this year to make up some stock for the shop. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Carrot handles are also in the pipeline when people stop giving me commissions.

All power to your elbow. Best of luck with that project ... doubt you will have time for anything else for a good while to come though ...

Another pose done. I must have made well over 10 now with another 6 to go. This pose was really hard to do as I was trying to get his head to angle round enough to look like he was cleaning himself.

You should have a go. Once you've worked out what you are carving and made the right preparations and cuts the rest is just shaping to your liking.

The photo below shows you the finished robin and the next one which has been roughed out on a bandsaw. You can see the overall shape and it's just the process of removing the wood that needs to be done.
