Whatever happened to the 'ban' of the sale of Bordeaux Mixture that was supposed to happen in early 2013?

It's still being sold by Amazon, Ebay, online gardening suppliers such as Greenfingers and my local garden centre.

This was on the RHS website but they appear to have removed it:
And this info with a different date is here http://www.downgardenservices.org.uk/potato.htm

I'd wondered that too. I was hoping to pick up some bargains at the GC when they were forced to sell them or bin them, but it is still at full price on their shelves.

Heinz did a similar thing with salad cream a couple of years ago.
I think it boosted their sales.

I've taken this up with Vitax in an attempt to get an explanation.

Perhaps an RHS member could ask them what's happening? (as they were the ones who posted the 28th Feb 2013 deadline which now appears to have been removed from their website, but not before it was quoted on just about every single UK gardening forum)

I suspect they're relying upon their suppliers not to provide them with stuff that's illegal to sell.

I checked on Ebay today and found Cheshunt compound (good stuff) for sale when it was supposed to have been 'banned' years ago.

Never could work out why they put that stuff in tins.
It seemed to be very corrosive and the last tin I had rusted away after only 20yrs or so.

They are working on the assumption that customers will USE it rather than HOARDING it!!

I was only "hoarding" it because I couldn't remember why I bothered buying it;)
Copper fungicide seemed to be almost the same with out the noxious smell of ammonia.:)

I've got the answer from the RHS.

Basically they say Bordeaux Mixture is not going to be withdrawn so we can still buy and use it.

The reason why the RHS put that warning message on their website (which has now been taken off) is as follows:

There was a change in the regulations and it required all products to be registered again. For a period of time, there was uncertainty about which products would be available after this had occurred. Bordeaux mixture was one of the products that took a long time for information to be updated and publicly available. So the RHS provided the information that was available at the time. Since then it has been registered and is still available.

One of the products that did not come back after this was Sulphur dust. This is no longer available as a fungicide as the company did not register it.

Is that the same as 'Flowers of Sulphur'? (just seen a load at a Garden Centre closing down sale)

Yep, I think that defines the powdered form as opposed to a solid block of Sulphur :)
