Trying out my new camera I took a photo of this regular visitor to my garden, in fact we had two nesting in next door's tree last year. He/she sits under the feeder and hoovers up all the seed the other fussy little darlings chuck away.

Not the best photo, I will try harder :-)

I took this 5 minutes after the courier delivered my new lense and I didn't even have the camera on a tripod , I want to achieve much sharper photos than this and I will practice until I get there :-)

Luckily I have been feeding the birds since I moved in so I can sit quietly in the garden and they will eventually feed in my presence.

Mandy- i know most of us have Blue and Great tits in our gardens but I think they are beautiful and will never tire of seeing photos or them in real life. hopefully the rain will stay off tomorrow and I'll get some pics to rival your lovely shots.

Hi Yvonne, I must admit I never tire of taking shots of birds no matter what kind they are. I'm actually "short" of Blue Tits, etc in the garden despite having Feeders up with seeds and nuts plus a Fat Ball Feeder which do get used by the brown suited guys. I think that being so close to fields that the birds have a choice and will go into the wilds hunting for insects etc first.

Nice Tits A, all three.:blue thumb:
Joolz, could be a Mistle Thrush, they sing in all weathers and have a speckled front.

The Siskins (well a pair) have returned to our garden at last.

Joolz, just remembered that on youtube you can see and hear the difference between the thrushes on BTO ( British Trust for Ornithology) videos along with many others.

Ladybirds - there were two in the bit of garden I was weeding earlier today. Are they normally around this time of year? Can't remember seeing them in previous years but it's so mild and sunny at the moment they probably don't know what season it is.

Think we have all your blue tits Armandi - and great tits, loads of both of these on the peanut feeders. I love their cheeky faces, especially when one of the feeders is empty and they're looking round all indignant like waiting for it to be filled.

Joolz.....if it's the size of a blackbird then I'd be inclined to say it's a Song Thrush. I took these pictures in my garden of a Mistle Thrush and it looked quite a bit bigger than the Song Thrush. If you follow the line down it's neck between eye and body you can see what looks like faint stripes, the Song Thrush doesn't have these.
