    The bread is a little dry, any ideas please?

      Maybe a little more oil/grease or butter? Or a drop more water - so critical, the water bit. Is this on a standard white loaf setting Sheal?

        Pretty much standard Jenny. A medium sized loaf with dark setting. Panasonic recipe as follows:

        Yeast........3/4 of a teaspoon (that's three quarters)
        Strong white flour.......400g
        Sugar.......1 teaspoon
        Butter.......15g
        Salt.......1 teaspoon
        Water.......280ml

            I made the fourth loaf yesterday with yet another adjustment to the ingredients Jenny. I think I've just about got it right now. I've reduced the yeast to half a teaspoon, reduced the water by ten ml and upped the butter a third. The crust was much better on it too, so I think I'm away with it now. I'll try freezing one this coming week and see how that goes. :)

              Best price for ages and I tipped off a friend last week (I knew they were interested and set up a CamelCamelCamel alert for falling prices), but still lots more than we got ours for when there was a really good deal on at Currys (approx. £65 after cashback about 18 months or so ago).

                    Sheal, one hour before "end of bake ", I lift the lid - it has finished rising by then, and I cut diagonally with a pair of scissors and brush with egg yolk and milk. Close the lid and let it "bake",

                      I made a small cheese loaf today in my Phillips Airfryer ... but I didn't photograph it as we ate it hot for lunch smothered in butter ... :heehee: :whistle:

                          Hey guys,
                          For health reasons for my daughter, I just bought a Panasonic bread maker so I can bake bread rather than buying it.
                          Years ago I worked as a nanny, the family had a Panasonic which made amazing bread!
                          With my own, I have tried a wholemeal and a white, b ut neither are a patch on the bread from my nannying days.
                          I used to have an argos cookswotks which I passed on earlier this year cos it made bricks (heavy, horrid bread!)

                          Is it worth investing in bread improver?
                          Does the type and brand of flour matter?
                          Is it better to make dough in the machine then cook in the oven? (The nanny family baked it in the machine as well?!)

                          I've always used either tesco or hovis strong white bread flour, is it worth investing in other flour? If so, any recommendations? I want light, airy sandwich bread!
