The visit from Mr Owen P will make things better :mute:

I think they will have to do some thing this time, It's called digging the rivers/streams/ditches then they will hold more water

Flipping 'eck, that looks like The Bristol Channel's moved inland. Is it true they're building a temporary harbour for the boats at Muchelney?

Wouldn't blame them, they've been getting wet getting in and out of the boats.

Been thinking hard if there are any Cob buildings in that area, they'd collapse if the water gets above the plinth :yikes: Can't picture any actually in the flood zone but there are a few around here.

'Cob' is called 'Wychert' around these parts and the stone plinth a 'Grumpling'.

That looks awful Ziggy , its like a rough sea ! The $64000 question is , can they really stop Somerset from flooding , is it practically possible ?
On the news this morning a couple of places on the coast have lost their beaches with all the strong tides.

Would Somerset need flood defences similar to the Netherlands ?

GC word of the week winner :yay::yay::yay:

With spot heights around the place of only 5 metres, they're never going to stop it all. What we need is a girt open cast quarry in the middle, that can fill up in the winter and then get used in the summer.

Something like this the Mir diamond mine in Russia ! Now that would take some filling. I don't think it is mined now , so is up for sale if you can contact your county council

Sheep and Cider aren't worth as much as the square mile.

No wonder it silts up with a fall of less than one in five thousand.

But worst of all the land owner don't dig them, but all the land owners around here have there own diggers and it's the tax payer paying for it to be done  :sofa: good old tax payer!!
