I've got a good Fungi reference book but not sure, loli, as the candidates I have in mind grow in the wrong areas and at the wrong time. I'll look up your suggestion and see if it matches:love30:

That's partly what's "throwing" me, loli, on pinning it down...the timing though might be out due to the mild Winter we're having so far and the fact that this Fungi is solitary and not in clumps.:dunno::scratch::heehee:

It could well be, Ziggy. My three candidates are a variety of Laccaria Laccata, Tricholomopsis, or my real favourite a variety of Exeromphalina campanella......but I'm definitely no expert on Fungi!!!:dunno::snork:

I am growing some Gladiolus violaceolineatus, which is a winter flowering gladiolus from South Africa. The seeds were easy to start (in 2010). The flowers are only an inch , and the leaves are wire-thin. It grows about 18" tall.:

                That is a lovely Gladdie!
Nice to hear that it was easy from seed as I have seed for G.orchidflorus.

One other thing - the bulbs are tiny. After 4 years, the big ones are about 1/4" across, but they also have really multiplied. It took 3 years for the first flower.

We are nearly at the end of January and the garden is dotted by snowdrops and cyclamen, they really cheer up the otherwise rather drab environment.
