cicoria v.castelfranco

I have tried to get some good advice as to it's propagation.

Right time of year to sow?
Heat needed to sow seeds?

Anyone got any ideas?

 

Never heard of it, but doing a google it looks like a cabbage, lol

I could only find an Italian site, and my Italian is not great.

 

Looks like a big spotty lettuce. Does it taste nice? Seems quite decorative.

Thanks, I was just worried when to sow as the chicory is prone to bitterness.

 

As I understand it you usually have to blanch chickory to stop it becoming bitter.
But not sure on this one.
