Lovely photo's Woo and Loli! :dbgrtmb:

Woo.....How are you getting on with the range on your new lens? I've found with my 250mm that I can't get close enough to get a decent shot without the birds taking flight.

Hi Armandll it was 8.30am ish when the tide is out and the mud is visible(that's when the Oyster catchers,Redshanks ect feed):)

Hi Sheal 300mm is just about OK,but I have studied how each species of bird has a different flight pattern ,and I position my self so that the birds are horizontal to me and the Sun is behind me,and if I want them to fly off,I just shout at them, and off they go;)

Thanks, Woo. I was thinking that because of the tones in the light that it must have been early morning or late in the afternoon, so I wasn't far wrong!!

Good afternoon Yvonne what a delightful photo, reminds me of when I used to breed Goldfinches and cross them with Linnets /Roller Canaries/ ect ,producing Goldfinch Mules for their beautiful song:)

Here's one crossed with a Bullfinch

We had a Sparrowhawk in the garden yesterday too, the same one as before.

            A few Upton Park residents.

So do I Lol, I enjoy my lunch time walks even more these days, and I try and get different and better pictures each day to add to this thread. Not always easy with the dog running around like a loony and the poor light conditions ;)

Last one for today, a Stonechat

Avocets Yvonne, only about 40, the rest, around 500 are usually on the other side of Poole harbour.

That's a healthy flock of Pink foots.:blue thumb:

Unfortunately the field they are feeding in is earmarked for a Wind Farm and yards away from a multi million pound wetland sanctuary which is only just finished, bar the planting. If it goes ahead, I fear for the future of future visitors like this, as well as our resident Owls, Raptors and other species. I see so many Red and Amber status birds, I can not believe these plans where ever even thought up :frown::mad:

Yvonne, I love the 'string' of Goldfinches, they've got to be one of Britains prettiest birds. :)

Yvonne, I've seen a few wind farms and have asked the locals how it affected the wildlife. They said that the major problem was the disruption when building them but, eventually, the wildlife seems to have returned.

A cold morning to go out bird watching but worth it in the end although pics were almost impossible in poor light and hiding behind a fir cone a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker was tucking in to the cones, first time I've seen one as they are a scarce and declining bird.
                          Just record shots.
