I can get as much plastic as I want, but need to find some metal hoops in order to make cloches.

The last time I did this (when Percy Thrower and Arthur Billet were on TV) I had a ready supply of those old metal coat hangers.

Sadly those metal hangers are no longer available.

I suppose I could go to a steel suppliers and get some round bars (maybe 3mm diameter) then make my own, but there must be an easier way.

I have seen the hoops made from sticks and some hosepipe - pushing sticks into ground and then pushing hosepipe on top to form the arch - although I have never tried it myself.

I use thick fence wire, about 3mm and thread though old garden hose.

A good place would be the local recycling center as above or thin plastic or put it over shaped 1" netting and later leave the netting there to stop birds. I do something similar to stop the blackbirds eating all my strawberries I don't mind them having some.

Geoff Hamilton used always be going on about his cloches made from blue water pipe with dowel pushed in the end.
That must be nearly 30yrs ago.
