You are very fortunate A, just seeing one in it's natural environment is a rarity so :dbgrtmb: to you.
I imagine it was a juvenile (unless it had the black mask across the eye) as they move around more.

Well, it was the black mask around it's eyes that first caught my attention, it's a very distinct and different looking bird. To be honest, it was the Long Tailed Tit's arrival that got me interested and then within a second or two the Penduline Tit arrived and that got my attention even more as it was something I'd never seen before.:snork:

It was an adult then:blue thumb:, the size and shape of the mask is different, larger and wider in the male and as you say, a totally different bird to Long Tails, being a similar colour to the Bearded tit.

Spruce, they are different Tits. The Coal Tit is much more common and has a black cap with a white patch on the nape, the Marsh it though similar in colour has a black cap extending to the back and if seen in the sun, the cap is shiney.

I have just remembered I took a pic of the back of a Coal Tit this morning as well but didn't think to upload it! It show the white patch that the Marsh Tit doesn't have. Does that make sense?:biggrin:

Is that you in your Pigeon disguise, Woo, practising sneaking up on them!!? I like the Pigeons as they clean up the seed that's dropped on the ground from the feeders and that saves me a job!!

I had enough time yesterday to take quite a few shots of the Long tailed tits on the feeders but struggled with the poor light [really 'orrible] to get a shutter speed above 60th sec even at an ISO of 1600. So on examining the images they are flat in colour, unsharp, and not up to even saving.......binned.:gaah:
