    Aah yes , saved you the trouble of waiting 6 months for it to rust. :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

    All those cars were notorious for rust problems.
    From the wikipedia page on the Simca 1307/Talbot_Solara:

    It's amazing how so many makes and models of cars are intertwined.
    Again form the same link as above:

    I remember the Solara well - like most of Talbot offerings, they always struck me as wheezy sounding things; that was in the days when you could tell what car was coming just by the sound of it.

    Platform sharing and models being intertwined is rife in the motor industry, they just don't like us customers knowing about it. Remember these?

    Hyundai Stellar - chassis was the same as the Ford Cortina MK V

      I know that in the past 10 years or so it's very common but was surprised at just how long back this "sharing" actually goes.

      Never knew that about the Hyundai Stellar.
      Hyundais were not available here before and is a relative new comer, I think the first models imported were the Getz but now with their pretty impressive new range, are probably the second or third best selling car brand after Toyota and BMW (figures vary slightly depending on source).
      Mercedes normally hovers around fourth place.
      VW and to a lesser extent Ford are also pretty popular.

      Completely agree.
      These days, unless it's an AMG Merc or BMW M3 with their distinctive engine sounds, I certainly can't tell one brand from the other.

      Badge engineering has been going on for a long, long time - the same car, with a different spec and different name. Its part of the reason that BMC/BL hit the wall. You would get essentially the same car from Austin, Morris, Wolseley and Riley... not to mention some of the really weird variations like Vanden Plas (which really was just a trim level that was sold as a brand name).

        @ARMANDII

        My dad had one way back when and the foot wells in the front were completely rusted through to the point that you could see the road whizzing past underneath.
        The real problem came in when driving over a puddle. :snork:

          I think I found a car that I'm pretty sure will never have any badge engineering. :)
